Visions Federal Credit Union to Merge with Visions Federal Credit Union (back to top)

On August 19, 2011 Visions Federal Credit Union announced it had agreed to merge with and into Visions Federal Credit Union, one of the leading credit unions in the state of New York. We are pleased to report that the merger has been approved by Visions’ credit union regulator, the National Credit Union Administration, paving the way for the merger to be completed sometime within the next few months. At that time, Visions Federal Credit Union will commence operations as a division of Visions Federal Credit Union.

We have just one goal throughout the upcoming transition, and that’s to make it as seamless as possible for you. There’s no need for you to take any action – just keep on banking with us as you’ve always done. Treasury to End Over-the-Counter Sales of Paper U.S. Savings Bonds (back to top)

The U.S. Department of the Treasury has announced it will end over-the-counter sales of paper savings bonds at the end of this year. This includes sales of savings bonds through financial institutions and applications mailed directly to the Federal Reserve Bank by customers. This move is expected to save taxpayers an estimated $70 million over the next five years.

In response to this change, Visions will not be accepting applications for new paper savings bonds after December 31, 2011. We will, however, continue to redeem matured bonds. Although paper bonds are being discontinued, electronic Series EE and Series I Savings Bonds will remain available for purchase through TreasuryDirect via their website at www.treasurydirect.gov. This secure, web-based system, operated by the Bureau of the Public Debt, has been used by investors since 2002 to buy, manage and redeem electronic bonds.
